Dua in Islam is calling on Allah directly, at any time and for any need, and the Prophet ﷺ called it worship itself. This page gathers all our dua articles in one place, each built on the Quran and authentic hadith, with the Arabic text, its source, its grade and what it means for us today.
An-Nu‘man ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Supplication (du‘a’) is itself the worship.”
Sunan Abi Dawud 1479 · Sahih (al-Albani) · Narrated by an-Nu‘man ibn Bashir · Translation adapted from Sunnah.com
He then recited this verse:
And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.
Surah Ghafir 40:60 · Translation: Saheeh International, from Quran.com
