Dua for daily protection from harm

A hadith which contains a short dua for daily protection. It is a short dua which is recited three times during the morning and the evening.

dua for daily protection

There is one hadith that contains a dua for daily protection which I try to practice. The duʿāʾ is short and easy to memorize. Lets take a look at the hadiths below.

Hadiths regarding the dua for daily protection

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who recites three times every morning and evening: ‘Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma’as-mihi shai’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i, wa Huwas-Sami’ul-‘Alim (In the Name of Allah with Whose Name there is protection against every kind of harm in the earth or in the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing and All- Knowing),’ nothing will harm him.”

Abu Daud and at-Tarmizi graded this hadith as Hasan Sahih.

There’s a longer version of the hadith similar to one above and provides a bit more credence to the dua.

“I heard the Messenger of Allah say: “There is no person who says, in the morning and evening of every day: Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma’a ismihi shay’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i wa Huwas-Sami’ul-‘Alim

(In the name of Allah with Whose Name nothing on earth or in heaven harms, and He is the All-Seeing, All-Knowing). Three times, and is then harmed by anything.'”

(Hasan)He (one of the narrators) said: “Aban had been stricken with paralysis on one side of his body and a man started looking at him.

Aban said: ‘Why are you looking at me? The Hadith is as I have narrated it to you but I did not say it that day, so that the decree of Allah might be implemented.'”

The dua for daily protection and its translation

In the name of Allah with Whose Name nothing on earth or in heaven harms, and He is the All-Seeing, All-Knowing

The dua is short but it is a very powerful one indeed. One should always ask Allah for protection from any harm as a symbol of devotion and belief. No danger can harm you unless Allah allows it.

Recite the dua three times, twice daily. One during the morning and one during the evening. Put your trust in God, and, God willing (InshaAllah), you will be protected from any harm that might befall.

Teach it to your kids because it teaches them to rely on Allah for safety.

Conclusion regarding the dua for daily protection

Any good or harm that befalls comes from the permission of Allah. We should always seek Allah’s protection from calamities as He is the best of protectors.

Furthermore, another recommended way to protect yourself and your family from harm is by reciting Istighfar.

As always, do share this piece of hadith out to all of your family and friends. Remember to practice this hadith every morning and evening. May it be one of the long lasting good deeds that rewards us well. Here in this world and in the hereafter, InsyaAllah.
