بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Hamdan kathiran taiyiban mubarakan fihi. Angels rush over to write down good deeds for the person who utters those words. Such short is the sentence but powerful nonetheless.
Lets now look at the hadith sahih below which confirms the above statement.
Hadith Regarding Saying “Hamdan Kathiran Taiyiban Mubarakan Fihi”
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُجْمِرِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلاَّدٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، قَالَ كُنَّا يَوْمًا نُصَلِّي وَرَاءَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ قَالَ ” سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ ”. قَالَ رَجُلٌ وَرَاءَهُ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ ” مَنِ الْمُتَكَلِّمُ ”. قَالَ أَنَا. قَالَ ” رَأَيْتُ بِضْعَةً وَثَلاَثِينَ مَلَكًا يَبْتَدِرُونَهَا، أَيُّهُمْ يَكْتُبُهَا أَوَّلُ ”.
One day we were praying behind the Prophet. When he raised his head from bowing, he said, “Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah.” A man behind him said, “Rabbana wa laka l-hamdu, hamdan kathiran taiyiban mubarakan fihi” (O our Lord! All the praises are for You, many good and blessed praises).
When the Prophet completed the prayer, he asked, “Who has said these words?” The man replied, “I.” The Prophet said, “I saw over thirty angels competing to write it first.” Prophet rose (from bowing) and stood straight till all the vertebrae of his spinal column came to a natural position.

When To Recite “Hamdan Kathiran Taiyiban Mubarakan Fihi”
حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ
O our Lord! All the praises are for You, many good and blessed praises
The recitation is done right after coming up from the rukuk position and after reciting Rabbana wa laka l-hamdu. It is a short add-on which brings a lot of good to the reciter. I think that it is easy to memorize and a great sentence to add during our meeting with Allah.

Though the sentence is short, reciting it compels the angels to write them down. Due to Allah’s grace, he makes lots of avenues for us to gain rewards into our book of deeds. So why don’t we incorporate it into our Salat and make it better?
