Surah Al-Kafirun and al-Ikhlas for Subuh Qobliyah prayer

Surah al-Kafirun and al-Ikhlas is two surahs that the Prophet usually recites when performing the Subuh Qobliyah prayers.

Surah al-Kafirun and al-Ikhlas

The supererogatory Salat before the Subuh prayer is special. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said the performing the optional Salat is better than having the whole world and its fills. While performing the optional Salat, the Prophet would also recite Surah al-Kafirun and al-Ikhlas. The former during the first raka’ah and the latter during the second raka’ah.

But before going any further let’s look at the authentic Hadith regarding reciting those two Surahs when performing the Subuh Qobliyah prayer.

The Prophet (ﷺ) recited Surat al-Kafirun, and Surat al-Ikhlas in the two (voluntary) Rak’at of the Fajr (prayer).

I observed the Prophet (ﷺ) for one month reciting in the two supererogatory Raka’ah of the Fajr prayer Surat Al-Kafirun (No. 109) [in the first Rak’ah], and Surat al-Ikhlas (No. 112) [in the second Rak’ah].
