Dua to Recite After Tashahhud and Its Amazing Reward

There is one dua to recite after tashahhud that the Prophet Muhammad ( ﷺ ) recommends to recite to protect oneself from doom and slander.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The tashahhud is recited during the last tahiyyat. There is a dua to recite after tashahhud that the Prophet Muhammad ( ﷺ ) use to add.

This dua invokes Allah to save oneself from doom of the grave and torment of the hellfire. It also includes protection from the slander of life and death and slander from the al-Masih ad-Dajjal.

Hadith about the dua to recite after tashahhud

وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال‏: ‏ ‏ “‏إذا تشهد أحدكم فليستعذ بالله من أربع، يقول‏: ‏ اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب جهنم، ومن عذاب القبر ومن فتنة المحيا والممات، ومن شر فتنة المسيح الدجال‏”‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه مسلم‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “When anyone of you has done his tashahhud during Salat (prayer), he should seek refuge in Allah against four things and say: “Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘adhabi jahannam, wa min ‘adhabil-qabr, wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat, wa min sharri fitnatil-masihid-dajjal (O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the mischief of al-Masih ad-Dajjal (antichrist).”

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب جهنم، ومن عذاب القبر ومن فتنة المحيا والممات، ومن شر فتنة المسيح الدجال

Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘adhabi jahannam, wa min ‘adhabil-qabr, wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat, wa min sharri fitnatil-masihid-dajjal

O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the mischief of al-Masih ad-Dajjal (antichrist).
